Pacers’ Reggie Miller fires savage jab at Knicks ahead of Game 2 — ‘Owned this city’

The rivalry between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks has been on since the early 1990s. Reggie Miller is the poster boy of the vitriol when it comes to these two teams. He hit shot after shot and sent Patrick Ewing’s squad in tears a lot of times in the NBA Playoffs. Now, this heated battle entered a new era and it features the clash of Tyrese Haliburton against Jalen Brunson. Despite all these new changes in the league, there was someone who remained constant.

Reggie Miller might no longer be an active NBA player but he is still around the game quite a lot. There is no one that supports this resurgence of the Pacers due to Tyrese Haliburton more than the analyst. Some concerns did arise when it was announced that he would be on the NBA Playoffs broadcast for Game 2 of Knicks vs. Pacers. It was especially a big issue since the Knicks had a homecourt advantage. This did not faze him at all, via NBA on TNT.

“People are like, ‘Aren’t you worried about going back to New York City and calling a game?’ No! I’ve owned this city. I’ve owned this building! So why would I be worried about walking on out there?” Reggie Miller declared.

UCLA and the Pacers are the only teams that Reggie Miller played for. He balled out on a nightly basis for these teams. Throughout 1,389 games, he knocked down 47.1% of his field goals and 39.5% of his three-pointers to average 18.2 points. This notched him five NBA All-Star appearances and a spot in the Hall of Fame.

He ended his career without a championship but the 1999-2000 season was the closest he got. There he sent the Knicks home during the Eastern Conference Finals. Unfortunately, they met Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. They pushed the Western Conference Champions to six games but just could not force a deciding Game 7.

Game 2 is going as expected. It has all been high-octane offense from the Pacers while the Knicks led by Jalen Brunson are trying to keep up. Tyrese Haliburton is reverting back to his All-Star form once again. He has knocked down seven out of his 12 field goal attempts and has perfectly sank all three of his free throws for 22 points. Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard have also been a huge help in the scoring department. These two have combined for 22 points while Obi Toppin gives them a much-needed boost off the bench with 13 points.

TJ McConnell has also been a huge help for Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers’ backup guard was given the duty to facilitate their offense and it is continually paying off. He has dropped nine assists while also scoring four points. Myles Turner is also contributing by crashing the boards well. He has seven rebounds at the moment.

There is still a lot of time left on the clock in this NBA Playoffs clash. The Knicks could very well run away with this game but the Pacers have all the firepower to outgun them before the dying seconds start.
