Knicks fielding trade offers for Quentin Grimes
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Rival executives are saying the Knicks are open to discussing trades on shooting guard Quentin Grimes, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.

Grimes, 23, is 6-foot-5 and averaging 6.9 points and shooting 39 percent on 3-pointers. But he’s become the latest in a long line of players who have fallen out of favor with coach Tom Thibodeau. So there’s no telling if Grimes can work his way back into the rotation.

Apparently, the Knicks are fielding calls and seeing what they can get in return.

“The Knicks are actively fielding offers for the former first-round pick, according to rival executives who have been in contact with New York’s front office,” Katz wrote.

“The approach signals a change from only a year or two ago when the Knicks clutched onto Grimes in trade talks. The 23-year-old has fallen out of favor with head coach Tom Thibodeau of late, losing the starting shooting guard job to Donte DiVincenzo on Dec. 8 and seeing his playing time decrease from 30 minutes a game in 2022-23 to 17 since moving to the second unit.”

New York has been the subject of trade rumors for a good month and remained that way even after acquiring forward OG Anunoby from Toronto.

The Knicks (23-17) sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference entering Tuesday night.
